Atoms to Bits - 3d Scanning Workshop for Middle School students

This after-school seminar, introduced Middle School students to the technologies of 3d scanning and 3d printing. Students had the opportunity of exploring the use of physical clay modeling for 3d scanning. Models were scanned and later edited in 3d modeling software. This allowed students to add settings and accessories for their characters in order to present a final product to the group.

This experience exposes students to a basic design process and allowes them to explore how analog proceses can be combined with digital technologies in order to bring a project to life. Students also could modify their scanned 3d models and proceed to 3d print them in order to create a new iteration of their characters.
