Fabponics Puerto Rico Hydroponic System

Fabponics Puerto Rico is a home aquaponic (fish and plant agriculture ecosystem) prototype designed and fabricated taking advantage of digital fabrication tools.The use of 3d printing for example, has allowed the design a growing bed module with all piping and drainage systems incorporated into only one piece, it smaller than traditional aquaponics which are not home friendly.

The design, 3d-modeling, fabrication process has allowed for the system to be readjusted according to needs that surface during the fabrication process. The whole system was designed under the idea that it could be fabricated by any- one with access to a Fab Lab. The project won the People’s Choice Award for the Global Awards at the Fab10 Conference.
